To be a candidate for Solar Electric Power (PV) you need to have a southern exposure on your property
and space to locate the array of individual modules. Most household size modules will provide around 175
to 225 Watts (W) each. Residential size systems commonly run from 2.0 - 5.0 Kilowatts (2000-5000 W).
An 18 module
array @ 200 W ea. (3.6 Kw or 3600 W) could take up an area of about 10 Ft x 30 Ft.
Ideally, this array would have shade free sun on it year round from 9 AM to 3 PM. Even small amounts of
shading can significantly reduce the electrical production of the system. Systems are commonly seen on
roofs partly because the height allows you to get above shading obstacles such as large trees.

Roofs, however, have some concerns such as the condition of the roof. When the roof needs to be
replaced the Photo voltaic (PV) system may need to be removed. Periodic cleaning of the modules may be
difficult. Ground mounts are much easier to maintain but the racking system and supporting pillars will add
some expense.

If you have an area which you believe has potential we can determine the suns path and shading obstacles
with a special camera. This equipment will determine a shading percentage. The State of New Hampshire
requires you have less than 20% year round shading to qualify for a renewable energy rebate.
