The best of both worlds: Energy Efficiency & Powerful Performance
Why choose a Hybrid Water Heater?
1. Energy Efficiency: Heat pump water heaters are significantly more energy-efficient than conventional electric water heaters. By extracting heat from the surrounding air or ground, they use less electricity to heat water, resulting in lower energy bills and reduced carbon emissions.
2. Cost Savings: Due to their higher efficiency, heat pump water heaters can save homeowners money on their energy bills over time. While the initial purchase price may be higher than traditional water heaters, the long-term savings in energy costs can outweigh this initial investment.
3. Consistent Hot Water: Heat pump water heaters typically have larger storage tanks than tankless models, ensuring a steady supply of hot water for household needs. They also have faster recovery times compared to standard electric water heaters, allowing them to quickly replenish hot water after heavy usage.
4. Environmentally Friendly: Because heat pump water heaters use renewable energy sources (such as ambient air or geothermal heat) to heat water, they have a lower environmental impact compared to conventional water heaters that rely solely on electricity or gas.
5. Versatility: Heat pump water heaters can be installed in various locations, including basements, garages, or utility rooms. They can also be used in conjunction with solar panels or other renewable energy systems to further reduce energy consumption and environmental impact.
6. Rebates and Incentives: Many utility companies and government agencies offer rebates and incentives for installing energy-efficient appliances like heat pump water heaters. Taking advantage of these programs can further offset the initial cost of purchasing and installing a heat pump water heater.

Home Energy Products offers two types of Water Heaters:
Standard Electric Water Heaters: Electric Water Heaters can easily be installed in most locations in your home. They do not need to vent to the outside of the building and do not require oil or gas to operate. Today's electric water heaters are more efficient than ever before. There are many sizes available and sizing is determined by the number of people living in the home. The most common size is 40 or 50 gallons and is typically adequate for a residence occupied by three or four people. Hybrid Electric Water Heaters: Hybrid Electric models are standard electric water heaters, with the addition of a heat pump on top. Hybrid units do have some limitations when being installed. They must be in an appropriate size room, or a closet with louvered doors. They also produce condensate, and that must be drained somewhere. Hybrid Electric Water Heaters are typically available in 50,66 & 80 gallons. These systems absorb heat from the room, which is used to heat the water. They have electric coils to boost heating when needed. You can even turn the electric elements off and rely strictly on the heat pump. (normally in warmer weather months). A Hybrid Electric Water Heater will typically cost around $300 a year to operate for a family of four. A standard electric water heater will typically cost around $700 a year to operate. Hybrid Electric Water Heaters are Energy Star rated, and often qualify for incentives from your local utility.
